Andy Ogles (R-Tenn) is doing damage control after apparently taking things a step too far even for his own party.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOn Tuesday night, Ogles\u2019 office claimed it had \u201creprimanded\u201d an unnamed staffer who had posted \u201cHomosexuality has no place in America. Happy Nuclear Family Month\u201d to Ogles\u2019 official X account earlier that same day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cEarlier today while working on the farm, my phone began going crazy because of a post made by a member of my comms team,\u201d Ogles wrote Tuesday night. \u201cThe post was stupid, hurtful and a complete distraction from my America First focus. The employee has been reprimanded.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOgles\u2019 social media account is packed with extremist rhetoric targeting virtually every minority community in the country. While he deleted the attack on gay Americans, posts claiming that \u201cthe only antidote to mass rape is mass remigration\u201d (a reference to a white nationalist concept), accusing LGBTQ+ youth support groups of participating in \u201cchild grooming,\u201d and claiming that Islam and America are \u201cincompatible,\u201d remain on his profile. Ogles has also campaigned in opposition to same-sex marriage, and when the Supreme Court overturned the federal right to abortion care, Ogles wrote that the right to marriage for LGBTQ+ individuals was \u201cnext.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\n\tEven some Republicans found the anti-Pride post distasteful. New York Rep. Mike Lawler, who is caught in a tough reelection battle, responded to his colleague on X. \u201cHomosexuality exists. In America. In fact Andy, you have family, friends, neighbors, colleagues and constituents who are gay and lesbian,\u201d he wrote. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t make them less than or somehow unworthy of being an American. What an absolutely idiotic statement to make.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/businessmovingservicess.com\/?p=104\">Trump Administration Agrees to Temporarily Suspend $1.8 Billion \u2018Weaponization\u2019 Slush Fund<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\tSenator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) told TMZ that \u201chomosexuals have been part of humanity\u201d for \u201call of recorded history.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\n\t\u201cThe behavior of consenting adults in their business,\u201d Cruz said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tIt\u2019s not a very strong reprimand from Cruz, who once called the legalization of same-sex marriage a form of \u201ctyranny.\u201d It would also be a mistake to think that the mild criticism Ogles received from his own party was an expression of support for LGBTQ+ equality, rather than a slap on the wrist for essentially posting the core belief of the right\u2019s anti-LGBTQ+ agenda.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tRepublicans across the country still used the kickoff of Pride month to highlight the string of culture war homophobia initiatives they\u2019ve been cultivating. The governors of Indiana and Tennessee have declared June will be celebrated as \u201cnuclear family month,\u201d instead of Pride month. Texas Senate candidate and current state Attorney General Ken Paxton kicked off Pride month by suing the city of Denton for hosting a \u201cBig Gay Swim Day\u201d at a public pool. In Fresno, California, the County Board of Supervisors banned public libraries from participating in Pride festivities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tPride is a reminder of all the struggles undertaken by LGBTQ+ Americans in the pursuit of equality. It also offers a yearly reminder from Republicans that they intend to reverse any progress made if given the opportunity.
